How to manifest abundance – and why it might not look like your visualisation!

I love this topic but I have been skirting around it for a long time. It’s so controversial, and as a play-it-safe people-pleaser I wasn’t about to stick my head above the parapet and risk an outlash. I’ve struggled with such a lack of confidence around articulating my views and how I really believe we navigate this subject of manifestation and abundance, but you know what? I really believe in this and I know it is so powerful, and I know it can help you too so, with the summer solstice hot on my heels today, here goes!

As I opened my own mind and started to explore different modalities for my own growth, health and wellness expansion in more depth, I kept coming across this idea that we can manifest all the abundance we need, visualise the life we want and somehow the universe will deliver it to us. Really?
So first up, my mind goes to - yeah right, how can this even be possible? Usually that “vision” sold to us is of huge material wealth, Hollywood mansions, fancy cars, dream lifestyles with personal trainers and chefs and infinite passive income. We are over 8 billion people on Earth – 8 billion! If everyone is manifesting this then where are all these dream houses actually going to go? Who is building them? Cleaning them? Cooking our food? Where are all the resources coming from – did the universe spring a spare planet for us to pilfer for just this purpose?
Then, of course, I found it wasn't happening for me (or presumably the other 7.99 billion individuals it hasn’t happened for)… That’s because I can’t visualise this well enough, right? I can’t believe hard enough, shake off my own low self-worth, put my trust in something bigger and take the leap off the precipice. It must somehow be my own fault that I can’t manifest that mansion, fancy car, prince charming complete with diamond ring and other expensive gifts...
And that’s about as far as most people tend to get. I mean, for a start, that’s a whole lot of shame if we find we can’t manifest everything, if our own life actually is plagued by lack and misfortune, that would mean we would need to take all that responsibility onto ourselves somehow - and that’s just not even worth contemplating. So, forget it, right? That’s all bonkers and toxic and probably someone trying to extort my money from me through network marketing or expensive woowoo retreats that will promise the world and deliver yet another credit card debt to pay off.
But here’s the thing. What if it is actually possible to manifest, to call in abundance and live a better life?
We are all energy at the end of the day – that’s a scientific fact, we know that consciousness exists, the quantum scientists have proved it even if it’s more than my head can start to get itself around.
And it does happen - have you ever gone on a shopping trip confident in the belief that you’ll find all the things you need, the perfect shoes or outfits for whatever it is you’re needing? You start off and find the first thing almost immediately, and it’s perfect! And so the day continues, one gem after another.
Or the opposite – you set off feeling low, under pressure, unoptimistic that you’ll ever be able to find what you need in your budget? And so it unfolds, the biggest waste of time because you got absolutely nothing that you were looking for.
Manifestation. Have you ever though that you are likely looking for what you want much more keenly, or not appreciating what you are finding in the right way that fuels your energy and your spirit?
Maybe you’re interviewing for a job. You feel really excited about the job, you can see yourself doing it and you feel really happy about that prospect, this is exactly the type of work you want to be doing, so you aren’t focused so much on selling yourself into something you aren’t but in finding out how this opportunity shapes up for you, and answering their questions just flows naturally as you just expect that what you have to say is what they want to hear.
And then the opposite can also happen too… We can (and likely all do) manifest things both positively and negatively.

So, what is going on?
To continue reading may mean you have to now take a huge leap of faith in what I’m about to say, or open your mind a little bit beyond what is currently comfortable for you, or maybe it won’t resonate with you at all, and that’s ok, but bear with me a moment, if I may. What if it’s not that manifesting isn’t possible, but just that we haven’t quite got the right perspective? What if we’re just not manifesting the right things?
Through all the things I have learnt over the last few years I have experienced the power of energy, energy medicine, frequencies, sound and vibration. I’ve delved into (and am still delving in) the languages of the universe, astrology, Human design, synchronicities and signs that there is something bigger than us and that we are all somehow a part of it. I believe that we are all here, souls on this Earth in this lifetime, to play out roles of some sort, each and every one of us a piece of a giant jigsaw puzzle that creates a whole.
And so in alignment with that, we all have some sort of purpose – we are all here to learn and experience certain things whether a pre-designed destiny or as a result of the energies around us when we were born. I still believe in free will and choice, in fact I believe that many people are not living in alignment with their purpose and that is in some way a part of the "problem" - problem is the wrong word, but I believe we all have a life path here which we may or may not achieve before we die.
Where am I going with all this?
Quite simply I don’t believe that we can manifest absolutely anything we want, but I do believe we can manifest what we want so long as it’s in accordance with our purpose and life path.
And when things go wrong they are ultimately either lessons for us to learn from nudges from the universe to get back on course. So, what does that mean? In simple terms, it means that no, most of us can’t manifest that mansion house lifestyle because it simply isn’t why we are here, it isn’t in alignment with what we truly want and need, it’s someone else’s desire that we’ve been programmed with and manipulated to believe that it’s the ultimate goal when it really isn’t.
So now if I look at my “inability” to manifest that house with the pool and tennis courts, I do so through a completely different lens, one whereby I can see that it’s because it’s not really what is right for me and what will give me real satisfaction, fulfilment and purpose and joy in life. No shame, no lack of trying or believing, nothing wrong with me, just simply that it isn’t meant for me.
But I do believe in the power of manifestation and calling in the abundance we really want and need.
First up, it’s important to get really clear on a few things:
1. What are you working towards? What’s your purpose? Why are you here and what is the positive influence in the world that you feel you are here to make. Don’t forget, these things don’t have to be huge or feel very significant – they are simply things that you feel align with you, the things that light you up and make you feel energised and alive.
2. What abundance do you want? An abundance of money is one choice, but it could also be an abundance of support, an abundance of time, an abundance of health or energy or resilience or strength. It could be an abundance of love. These are all abundance, so for me it’s important to get really clear on what the abundance is that I want and need at this time for whatever steps you’re taking towards your purpose.
3. Self-worth. This is where things get extra tough, because to be able to get what we want that’s in alignment with our highest good and purpose, we also have to believe that we are worthy of it. If we haven’t got that strength of conviction around getting what we want because of what we will do with it being good enough, the energy just won’t flow in the same way. So I think we have to get clear on our purpose and really believe in that too.
And here’s what I find helps me and people I am working with to start to get to work on real manifestation and abundance.
1. Get clear on your purpose. If you want to manifest your dream job, you have to know what your purpose is and how that job will work in alignment to get you there. If your life’s purpose is to support the planet, then why are you applying for a job in finance?
If the answer is because you want to use that influence to direct money towards worthy projects, boom – you are on path! If you want that job to get you to a place of financial stability yourself so that you can find time to volunteer on sustainable local initiatives, that’s also a big green light. If you’re applying for it because you feel like it’s the next logical step in your career that’s based on what you happened to fall into or what your parents or society conditioned you to believe was the right path but actually it doesn’t bring you any real joy or sense of purpose... then perhaps it’s time to reassess and think about whether or not it really is your dream job after all and if not, what you might want to start exploring instead.
And to that point of finding joy in what you want, that in itself is often enough. We don’t all know what our life’s purpose really is (heck, I am not 100% on mine yet, and in any case, maybe it will change over time, who knows?), but the universe and our soul have this awesome way of giving us clues because the things that line up also light us up. The things that are for us bring us joy and energy and a sense of purpose. Tune in, listen up, follow the sparkles and eventually they will bring answers.
2. Lean into it. Trust you are going to do this, know that you are worthy of doing it. See how it fits in with the people around you or the people you will be around, to compliment them or shake them up to make things better. Yes, you are worthy and now is not the time for self doubt.
3. Manifestation doesn’t look a set way for everyone, we all have our own way - do it your way. For many, this is clear visualisation and that’s often what we first see talked about by people working and selling in this field. For me, one of my biggest ah-hah moments was through integrating information from Human Design. I struggle to visualise things very specifically, Human Design showed me that’s because I am a “feeler”. My HD energy type isn’t supposed to be so specific when visualising and manifesting – I figure out how I want to feel, and let the universe decide the details. Give it a go, play around, see what works for you!
4. Take consistent steps. This is a tough one because now we have to really get real and take steps. We have to look for the things that align with our goal, we have to say yes to the things that align with that goal, and we also have to say no to things that don't - this one is often the hardest. We need to make sure we say no to the things that might have us side tracked, because sometimes this amazing universe that conspires to support us in our aligned purpose and goals, also tests us too. Remember, you want to be following the energy that brings you joy and sparkles and letting go of the energy that doesn't - and this is tough, especially if we have spend years doing all the things we thought we were "supposed to do", instead of the things we want to do.
So there you go, this is my take on manifesting abundance and your dream life – do let me know what you think and if you would like any support in figuring out how to get over your blocks to manifesting, reframing, finding your purpose or figuring out the right way for you to start working with this energy – book a free chat here and let’s talk!
